The SoFAB Project has been very busy over the last couple of months, and there are more activities planned, i.e.

FÁS has been dissolved. But www.fas.ie will remain in place to provide an uninterrupted service to learners.
What will happen? Training courses and services to learners will continue and certification of courses will not be affected.
SOLAS (An tSeirbhís Oideachais Leanúnaigh agus Scileanna), the new Further Education and Training Authority in Ireland has been established.
On the 29th October 2013, the Board, management and staff of the new Further Education and Training Authority, An tSeirbhís Oideachais Leanúnaigh agus Scileanna (SOLAS) welcomed the signing of the Establishment Order to bring it into being by the Minister for Education and Skills, Ruairí Quinn T.D.
The Department for Employment and Learning, is hosting two Job Fairs in:
- Canal Court Hotel, Merchant’s Quay, Newry on Wed. 13 November 2013 from 10am-5pm
- Europa Hotel, Gt Victoria Street, Belfast, on Thurs. 14 November 2013 from 10am–6pm

Open Door is a project working with employers, disability services and jobseekers to promote equal employment opportunities for people with disabilities.
The project will operate across the Border, Midlands, West (BMW) region until April 2015, highlighting to employers the business benefits of hiring and retaining employees with disabilities using the supported employment model.

The IASE National Best Practice Awards recognise and celebrate the achievements of employers, employees, disability services, volunteers and more.
Supported Employment Solutions (SES) have helped 100 clients secure employment through the Work Connect programme since late 2012.
The 100 jobs have been from all sectors and have included local government positions, factories, call centres, small to medium businesses and some large retailers.

Hundreds of employers and jobseekers with disabilities were recognised on Wednesday September 25th, at the Department of An Taoiseach, for their efforts to promote equal employment opportunities across Ireland.
Highly Commended at Greater Newry Business Awards 2013, Clanrye Retail Social Enterprise was delighted to receive the news that they had received a Highly Commended Award for the Best Social Enterprise in the Greater Newry Area Business Awards. The Event took place at a Gala Awards Ceremony in the Canal Court Hotel, Newry on 12 September 2013.
Derry will play host to a major Jobs Fair and Advice Forum on 11 September 2013.
The Job Fair and Advice Forum, which will take place in the Millennium Forum on 11 September 2013 between 10am and 4pm, has been organised by the Department for Employment and Learning in conjunction with Derry City Council, CultureTECH and EURES. BSL and ISL sign language interpreters will be available from 10am to 12.00 noon.
